Legends Of The Dark Knight Jim Aparo

I never thought I'd see the day when DC would reprint my all time favorite comic by my all time favorite artist in their nice archive style format. But that day came last week when I got my copy of Legends Of The Dark Knight Jim Aparo Volume 1 in the mail. As the back cover indicates, it reprints The Brave And The Bold #98, 100-102, and 104-122, which feature the height of the Aparo-Bob Haney team ups.
This book covers the years 1971-1975 and while I didn't discover The Brave And The Bold until 1978 or so, I really love these stories and DC did a great job reproducing them. The color looks great to me, as evidenced by the splash page to B&B #116 featuring The Spectre.
I also enjoyed the little things that Aparo would put into his pages like this great Sgt. Rock recruiting poster from the splash to B&B #117. I have to think that Army recruiting had to have gone up after kids saw the leader of the Combat Happy Joes wanting them for today's Army.
I really dig this book and I heartily recommend it to anyone who likes Bronze Age DC and Batman in particular. It's about time Jim Aparo got his due as one, and in my opinion the best, of the greatest comic artists of all time. Here's the link to order from Amazon. $31.49 is a steal for this gem. And if you order it from Amazon, be sure and use the link on my buddy Neato Coolville's blog. The proceeds will go to my birthday present, right NC?
